Studio Apartment Design

Studio Apartment Design

Three and a half years ago I woke up with slight panic attack.

To make a long story (sort of) short we shaved off about 3,000 square feet of living space to move back into the city.

I went from having a room for everything, plus more, to moving to a smaller space that required me to get creative.

I wouldn’t trade it for anything, as city living is in my soul, but I definitely learned some lessons along the way.

Small spaces are some of my favourite projects, but I’ll be honest, it requires some careful planning and a few tricks to get it feeling right.

In today’s Decor With Love TV, I’m sharing some small space tips particularily for those who are studio living. But whether you have a small space or not — if you want a space with cohesiveness, that maximizes storage and want to get creative — this video is for you!

Bathroom on a Budget

Bathroom on a Budget

Question for you — Does your bathroom bring you joy?

I’ve been doing a little secret poll with my past and current clients and I’d say 95% of them DON’T like their bathroom.

BUT….it goes to the back of the list. Let’s be honest, doing a reno can be a ton of work, not to mention money.

I’ve been putting together a few “budget bathroom designs” and thought some of these tips may be helpful for you.

In today’s Decor With Love TV I’m sharing some of my favourite tips and things you need to consider when doing a bathroom reno on a budget.

AND…I’ve included a FREE Bathroom on a Budget Design Board and where the items are from (included in the video).

Rental Apartment Decorating Ideas

Rental Apartment Decorating Ideas

I want to tell you about a design consultation I recently had.

The client was an amazing woman with a fantastic space near the beach. I was so excited for this project.

But…once we were done the consultation she finished by saying “I don’t know if I should even bother decorating as I’m just renting!”

What!? This really got me fired up — in a good way!

Whether you rent, or maybe you’re ‘not in your dream space’ yet, doesn’t mean you don’t DESERVE to have a home you love!

As Oprah says (yes, I’m quoting Oprah) “You’re home should rise up to meet you.”

So whether you rent or not, today’s #DecorWithLove TV can apply to anyone if you want to know what to invest in, how to decorate in ways that can be changed easily and some new things that are on the market.

2017 Interior Design Trends

2017 Interior Design Trends

I want to talk about trends.

I have a little philosophy that I think will be helpful.

Many of us hear the word trends and we cringe as it almost feels like another thing to know, purchase, or consume. This sound familiar?

Instead of thinking of it this way, what I find helpful is to know what the trends are and what catches my attention. Then I can bring that into my home & life in simple ways.

I want to make things easy and accessible.

I’m really excited to share these with you as I think most of them are less of trends that will soon fade and more a look at things in the home that are here to stay.

So in today’s Decor With Love TV I’m breaking down 10 Interior Design Trends for 2017 and How to EASILY bring them into your home.

Also, I’m going to be doing a Facebook Live on Trends and some of my Favourite Finds so remember to Join the Group Here

Christmas Ornaments DIY

Christmas Ornaments DIY

Well, there’s no denying it — the holidays are here!

Last weekend, we got our “Griswald Tree” turned on the Christmas tunes and the kids decorated.

One of the things they love the most is pulling out the home made decorations they made in previous years.

They get so excited remembering what they created.

Last week, I shared 3 really easy Christmas Ornament DIY’s on City TV’s Breakfast Television.

My girls made all of these and loved them. Even if you’ve decorated already, it’s not too late to do these simple crafts this weekend — creating memories.

This is my last newsletter of 2016, I want to thank you so much for being part of the Decor With Love community. I believe we all should be inspired with creativity in our homes and life. I hope these weekly tips have done a bit of that for you.

Happy holidays and ‘see’ you in the New year!

Small Bedroom Design Ideas

Small Bedroom Design Ideas

You know when you keep hearing the same frustrations, there’s a need out there?

Well, even though, family/living rooms are the spaces I decorate most, bedrooms are the space we mostly struggle with.

Just this week, I did a couple in home consultations for living rooms, but somehow we end up making a few changes to the bedroom.

I get it. It’s not an area we usually “show off” so a lot of us (including me) just kind of leave it.

And many of us (including me) don’t have huge master bedrooms with seating areas like we see on TV or in magazines. But this doesn’t mean you can’t have a beautiful and functional space.

There are a few simple tricks I used to decorate my very small master bedroom that I want to share with you in today’s Decor With Love TV

Once you’ve had a chance to watch I’d love to hear if you plan on making any changes to your bedroom?

If you have a ‘design dilemna’ please leave me a comment and I’d be happy to answer on a future video!

Painting Ideas

Painting Ideas

Today’s tip is probably the most relatively inexpensive but impactful change your can make to you space….

PAINT!

No matter what furniture you buy, how well you accessorize and style, if you have the wrong colour on your walls — it won’t work.

Ideally, it’s a great idea to paint after you have chosen your furnishings but in most cases we paint before moving in. And in most cases, it’s some shade of beige.

Now, don’t panic, I know Christmas is coming, but this is something to think about as a New Year’s project.

In today’s Decor with Love TV I’ve given you some of my tips for painting, what you need to think about, what’s on trend and I’ve also got a freebie with my favourite colours to get you started.

Once you’ve had a chance to watch I’d love to hear what room you plan on painting in 2017?

If you have a ‘design dilemna’ just leave me a comment and I’d be happy to answer on a future video!
