How To Choose Paint Colors

How To Choose Paint Colors

Okay, before I get into todays video (which is jam packed with some great tips for you and a freebie!) I have a little social media perspective to share and would love to hear your thoughts.

On Sunday I opened up Instagram and could feel the panic! I guess there is a charge happening and instead of seeing posts due to time posted you will now see more popular posts.

I was on social media a little less over Spring Break and then this happened and it really got me thinking about my intention with social media and communication. And this is where I landed. Whether it be Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc my intention is to Inspire Creativity. That may look like a picture I love, a project update, a video or article.

So, what’s my point to this? Well, I really want this channel of communication to be where I connect, inspire, instruct and form a community. My promise is to put my heart and soul into my videos and these blog posts. Sharing both decor inspirations and personal insights that I hope you find helpful.

I’d love you to do me a favour and if you think anyone in your community would benefit or enjoy these Thursday updates I’d love for you to pass this newsletter along to them.

And for today, I’ve got a goodie to share. Lots of clients are looking to freshen things up lately and want to paint. As ‘easy’ as it can seem to paint and choose a color, there are a lot of factors to consider and to be honest, most people get it wrong and then hire a designer or paint consultant to help.

I’ve got 7 tips when your considering how to choose paint colors that will save you from making a mistake and painting the wrong color. I also created a freebie for you with my FAVOURITE PAINT COLORS! I listed them in categories with names, product codes and descriptions of each. My gift to you for reading and being part of the #DecorWithLove community.

Enjoy…

I’d love to hear about your social media thoughts I chatted about and/or if you plan on painting this year and what room? Leave me a comment below.

Thanks for watching and we’ll see you next week!

Kitchen Design Ideas

Kitchen Design Ideas

Would you love a new kitchen but not in a place to tackle to full on reno? , I’d love to find a way to update and freshen our kitchen cabinets and living room decor.

Well, a little story for you. About 6 years ago, we moved from Vancouver to South Surrey. I hadn’t had my second daughter Presley yet and we wanted to be closer to family when we did. Side note (but unrelated) we are back in Vancouver, loving it, and that’s a whole other blog post.

Ok, back to the move. We bought a house we both really liked – well I should say liked some of the things. The kitchen…not so much. It was brown, upon brown, upon brown. Now, don’t get me wrong there are lots of great kichens out there with brown finishing but this just wasn’t one of them.

We weren’t in a place where we could afford the major reno of our dreams, so I had to find a way to update and freshen our kitchen without breaking the bank.

There are some changes you can make, without a full on reno, that don’t cost a ton money, you can do yourself and get started on in a weekend. Yes, really!

I’ve shared some of the tips I personally used to transform my outdated kitchen and I hope are valuable for you….

I’d love to hear about your kitchen challenges and any changes you plan on making? Leave me a comment below.

Spring Break Boredom Busters

So we are officially in Spring Break season around here till the end of the month!

The other day my hubs and I took the girls to a movie. We were so excited to all see a movie as a family.  After movie tickets, popcorn and drinks it was a $68 date!

So, it got me thinking there has got to be ways to keep the kiddos busy, while having fun and learning, without spending a ton.

I went into research mode to find some engaging and easy activities that we can do with the kiddos or they can do on their own and we can have a some quiet time. I found 5 great Spring Break Boredom Busters that I plan on using and I hope you find helpful as well.

It was super fun to show these on Breakfast Television yesterday and I included the video below with all the details for each project.

I’d love to hear about your favourite Spring Break activity? Leave me a comment below.

How To Mix Patterns

How To Mix Patterns

One more day and Spring Break and Easter is upon us – wow! This is really my favourite time of year.

I feel a sense of renewal, literally, with Spring. There is a sort of shedding of the heaviness winter can bring and I don’t know about you but feels like we can leave the baggage for lighter days, times and experiences.

It also means I want you to make a few changes to your home. Yes, I do. Put away anything heavy and add some lightness to your decor. How? Pattern.

Pattern is a perfect way to bring Spring into your home. But, let’s be honest. Pattern can go really right or really, really wrong. And most people just avoid it all together out of fear of making a mistake.

I‘m going to give you the 5 tips for mixing pattern that will work every time. Whether it’s on your pillows, rug, curtains, furniture, blankets etc, this will having you mixing like a pro!

P.S. We’re getting ready to head into production on our next season of #DecorWithLove TV. If you have a Design Challenge in your space you’d like me to answer, please comment below!

I’d love to hear if you plan on adding some Spring items into your home? Please leave me a comment below.

Ikea Organizing Hacks

Ikea Organizing Hacks

Hello March! I’m excited. This means Spring is just around the corner and I don’t know about you, but I am soooo….ready for longer days, sunshine and flowers. In Vancouver, we’re in the midst of rain and grey but a girl can dream.

I’ve mentioned this before but I’ve lived in large spaces, small spaces and in between. And there is one common thread in all of them. We can never have enough creative storage.

Add on a couple of girls who do crafts morning and night and trust me, you start to get creative when it comes to inexpensive ways to hide the clutter.

Earlier this year I shared a few of my favourites on Breakfast Television and it inspired me to create this video for you.

I went to the kitchen section of Ikea and for very little money, I found ways to create creative storage that you can use too.

I’m excited for you to get inspired by today’s video.

I’d love to hear what is your favourite organizing tip? Leave me a comment below.
