How To Decorate a Christmas Tree

How To Decorate A Christmas Tree

I have a new title to add to my business cards – Tree Decorator. Well, in all honesty, I owe a huge shout out to my mom and 7 year old daughter on this one.

To explain a little more, I had the fun opportunity last week to decorate a tree for The Sutton Hotel Vancouver with public viewing by donation and all proceeds going to help educate kids with autism.

This isn’t in my everyday wheel house, but I love getting a chance to do something different and especially when it’s connected to a purpose driven cause.

And let me be honest with you. This tree caused me some stress. Yes, I’ve had a Christmas tree all my life but never to be put on display and judged by locals and tourists.

But…I love the way it turned out. My vision was a Scandi/Handmade/Woodland with Bling kinda vibe.

Being the good student I am I studied up and learned some valuable Christmas tree trimming tips that I KNOW you will find valuable. Watch my tips and you can also download a tree checklist of my thought process that really helped.

How To Style Bookshelves

How To Style Bookshelves

This past weekend, I attended TEDxVancouver. Anyone who’s not familiar with TED Talks – definitely look it up on You Tube (after you watch my video of course) as there are some fabulous talks on technology, entertainment, and design.

What I loved most is whether it was a writer, scientist, doctor or drag queen (yes, you heard that right) every one of them had 2 qualities. They were passionate about what they did and how it could be of service for others.

To me that’s the key to true success. Finding creativity in my life opened up a part of myself that was shut off for so long. Now I really want to inspire other girls and women to be lit up with creativity.

So when I do these videos, yes it is about pillows, and side tables and things that may look like asthetical changes but it’s more than that.

It’s a chance for me to share, inspire and help you create a space you love. Our self worth is directly related to what we eat, say, wear and also in our homes.

This is why I created #DecorWithLove so you could find some creativity, which creates more self love, which will be reflected in the space you call home.

Enjoy today’s video where I show you 3 different ways to style a shelf. And in case you wondered, this shelf is about $10 from Ikea and every home needs one!

I have a challenge for you after you watch this video…

What are the 3 words you’d use to describe your home and do they reflect you? Leave a comment on my below.

Gallery Wall Ideas

Gallery Wall Ideas

I can’t believe it’s mid-November! Where has 2015 gone?

I’m excited to be working on some really neat projects right now. From e-decors, to event decorating, to tree trimming for charity. One I’m really excited to tell you about is a cool collaboration I will share more about next week – it’s a goodie that will allow you to have an inspired home in an accessible way. Intrigued?

Back to today. I’m super excited about this video as it’s one of those “to-do’s” that every client seems to want to do in their home some where.

Whether it’s above a couch, in a hallway, or for a bedroom a gallery wall is one of the top requests I get is how to create a Gallery Wall! So, I have a very easy step by step for you.

The one I am showing you was published in Style at Home Magazine and I’ll let you in on a little secret (most of the art is from Homesense…shhh!). I say this so you know that you can create a gallery wall on a budget as well as doing it with collected items over time.

Living Room Design Trends

Living Room Design Trends

There are 2 types of people. Those who LOVE trends and those who rebel against them. As with any trend in fashion, technology, food etc, etc, you have to take what works for you and leave the rest.
I have found a new way to look at trends. View them as a way to have fun. No pressure, not a big commitment necessarily.

Look at trends as creativity. When it comes to your home, trends are a way of showing your personality and creative vibe to your space.

To make it easy, I’ve broken down a few ‘creativity’ items that you can add to your home in easy and accessible ways.

Which trend is your favourite?  Leave a comment on my blog.
